Bladecaster Woes

My bladecaster is now lvl24 and apart from when he was lvl15/16 he has not been able to use the special abilities of his elfblade. Actually I should say elfblades because he has somehow ended up with two elfblades.

If I trash one of the blades will his remainng blade start behaving or should he learn to dual wield elf blades?

I had this problem once. One of the elf blades will work, one will not. It's just a matter of knowing which one... AND make sure you haven't changed alignment somehow.
