I picked up the Snake cultist quest but my friend did it while I was offline and handed it in when I rejoined.

Did I miss out on picking up the trading pixie?

Both can be picked up as long as you don’t already have one, you do not need the quest.

If for some reason you need a spare Pixy, you can leave the Pixy in your chest or lend it to your friend for a while. After visit snake cult to receive yet another...

Oh, really? I never used it. Thanks for info.
By chance I have received as gift "rune of recall". It allows to jump to party leader, who has the same rune and save till 10 points of interest. Maybe, it is advanced version of Binding stone.
