Random Glitch?

I traded a bag full of gear to Ghost and he received a message saying "you cannot pick pocket large items."
The bag has disappeared which is very weird. His script says: "Acquired Item: lesser magic bag", "Lost Item: lesser magic bag".
Any idea why that gear is gone? I lost quite a bit of good gear.
