I ask because I feel I got another word at the bottom level of the SIxth Shrine, but I do not have a seventh quest.

The quest is removed from my list, and as I ported back to the surface a Balor Lord appeared.

I attacked it immediately, only after it was dead realizing it tried to speak to me.

Then back in Blackstone a boy told me I needed to go to Dark Forest and see something near a cave.

There was a portal outside the spider cave which I could not interact with.

I stayed in the area for probably 30 minutes before logging out as I thought a DM had something for me to do, but nothing.

No response on the DM channel either.

DM One Eyed..... was on when I logged in but was gone when I left.

I was playing Santonin na Mhoram-in at the time.

My bad, The DM client completely locked up on me and couldn't log back in for a few hours!

Next time i'll catch you in game i'll check your journal.

This has not been fixed, I haven't seen any DM in game and Omegon hasn't posted here since Xmas.

What is your quest list like in regards to the shrines.

Quest list shows Shrines 1 through 6 complete and that I have the Words of Power to defeat Shalnath.

Should I have a quest for Shalnath?

You are given the first word in the letter you get when you first make character. When you complete a shrine, the Rune stone at the end contains a sentence that has the next word. One has the word for two, two has the word for three and so on and so forth.

Thus:
1.First word given to you to open the first shrine.
2.Shrine 1 has the word for 2.
3.Shrine 2 has the word for 3.
4.Shrine 3 has the word for 4.
5.Shrine 4 has the word for 5.
6.Shrine 5 has the word for 6.
7.Shrine 6 has the final word.

So, do you think that you are missing something?

Yes... there is a final quest and this is given by a known quest giver...make sure you always talk to a quest giver again once you have done their quests... you will know when there are no more quests to be given

Sounds like the answer to my initial question is 'yes'. 6 Shrines.

The message about Shalnath caused me to think there was another shrine or something leading to a final boss.

I need to get caught up on quests.

I'm experiencing the same thing.
I didn't get any quest - I've checked the three major quest givers in Blackstone Keep.
Done all the quests there are to be done... except the 'main' event.
Or is it supposed to be after Oasis?

The final part of the "main" quest will give you the solution to the shines. There are 7.
