There be dwarves here

The Ether swirled around him like a faded lover, teasing but never touching. Rune's eyes flicked back and forth behind his eyelids. Kazra's last words echoed in his mind and his body reflexively clenched into a ball.
"You have failed me, and I take your soul as recompense until such time as your skills are wanted again."
The yellowish taint surrounding this particular level of the hells glowed softly with the fires, and several demons wandered close. They whispered amongst themselves and dared to peek at this small dwarf soul but with Kazra's mark upon him they dared little else.
Suddenly, the ground quaked and cracked asunder, spilling the fires upwards. When it was still again, Rune was gone. Apparently Kazra had big plans for the small soul.
