*Casts thread resurrection*
So there's been some more questions about viable crafter builds both on this forum and the Discord chat recently. Lots of Bards in this thread, so to balance things out, here's a Wizard crafter! [that's also a Bard]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wizard(21), Bard(19), Human
STR: 14
DEX: 8
CON: 8
WIS: 8
INT: 18 (32)
CHA: 15
School of Magic: General. This guy is also designed to be a Scroll/Wand/Potion crafter, so the higher the spell variety the better.
Familiar: Faerie Dragon until level 15 for Improved Invisibility [possess familiar to cast on self or allies from level 1! ] . Switch to Fire/Ice Mephit once level 15, as these benefit from the 'Familiar buffed' mechanic, and turn into cute little melee tanks once they have received Strength/Flame Weapon/GMW buffs.
Human: (Quick to Master)
01: Wizard(1): Extend Spell, Toughness, {Scribe Scroll}
02: Wizard(2)
03: Wizard(3): Weapon Proficiency Martial
04: Wizard(4): INT+1, (INT=19)
05: Wizard(5): Empower Spell
06: Wizard(6): Spell Penetration
07: Wizard(7)
08: Wizard(8): INT+1, (INT=20)
09: Wizard(9): Greater Spell Penetration
10: Wizard(10): Maximize Spell
11: Wizard(11)
12: Wizard(12): INT+1, Skill Focus: Craft Armor, (INT=21)
13: Wizard(13)
14: Wizard(14)
15: Wizard(15): Skill Focus: Craft Weapon, Silent Spell
16: Wizard(16): INT+1, (INT=22)
17: Wizard(17)
18: Wizard(18): Brew Potion
19: Wizard(19)
20: Wizard(20): INT+1, Craft Wand, (INT=23)
21: Wizard(21): Epic Spell: Mummy Dust
22: Bard(1)
23: Bard(2)
24: Bard(3): INT+1, Great Intelligence I, (INT=25)
25: Bard(4)
26: Bard(5)
27: Bard(6): Great Intelligence II, (INT=26)
28: Bard(7): INT+1, (INT=27)
29: Bard(8)
30: Bard(9): Great Intelligence III, (INT=28)
31: Bard(10)
32: Bard(11): INT+1, (INT=29)
33: Bard(12): Great Intelligence IV, (INT=30)
34: Bard(13)
35: Bard(14)
36: Bard(15): INT+1, Epic Skill Focus: Craft Weapon, (INT=31)
37: Bard(16)
38: Bard(17)
39: Bard(18): Epic Skill Focus: Craft Armor
40: Bard(19): INT+1, (INT=32)
Hitpoints: 198
Skillpoints: 445
Saving Throws (Fortitude/Will/Reflex): 15/21/15
Saving Throw bonuses: Spells: +10
BAB: 20
AB (max, naked): 22 (melee), 19 (ranged)
AC (naked/mundane armor/shield only): 17/25
Spell Casting: Wizard(9),Bard(5)
Alignment Changes: 0
Skills:
Appraise 43(54), Concentration 43(42), Craft Armor 43(67), Craft Trap 23(34), Craft Weapon 43(67), Heal 43(42), Perform 43(45), Spellcraft 43(54), Taunt 43(45), Tumble 40(39), UMD 38(40).
IMPORTANT: Due to the way intelligence is constantly increasing throughout, and the fact that the build takes wizard early and bard late, means that the amount of skill points per level this build receives is backloaded. I.E. It will receive most of its' skill points near the end of its' levelling curve.
To avoid any unnecessary pitfalls: Focus on ONLY Concentration/Spellcraft/Heal early, then IN ADDITION focus on Tumble/UMD/Perform once into Bard levels. You only need to start pumping points into crafting skills at level 36, when the build begins to take Epic Skill Focus feats [which require a certain amount of the base skill to take].
By the end, it will have way too many points to know what to do with, which is why skills like Appraise, Craft Trap and Taunt were taken. One is welcome to replace these skills with something else if they feel something else is more appropriate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modus operandi: Summon stuff, buff the summoned stuff, heal the summoned stuff with kits, be merry. Utility spells such as Timestop and Bigby Hands at later levels can be useful as well. Just be weary of your low HP.
Buffed Summons are available from level 15 onwards. These only work with self-cast summons as far as I can tell [not summons cast from items]. Mummy is available from level 21.
Final Craft Skill at level 40 is:
43 base
13 Skill Focuses
17 Int [44 buffed]
7 Bard Song [requires 45 perform, which can be attained without any items or buffs]
= The magic 80. No items required. Just don't forget to sing before crafting something, as song doesn't last very long.
Enjoy!
