Ranger Favored Enemy Suggestion?

Writing up a build for my friend who wants to create a Ranger Build and I'm wondering what the best options are for Favored Enemies? Any thoughts or suggestions?

My favorite is a Halfling Ranger with favorite enemy (Giants).

Undead and Outsiders are very broad categories that seem to be fair bets to be useful, giants seem notably common as well. Some of the humanoid types pop up a fair bit, monstrous especially I believe.
Oddly, constructs and dragons don't seem to be incredibly worthwhile.

But that's just my incomplete experience.

So far, I've only found one area of undead (I'm currently lvl 16), so my extraordinary paladin is more or less worthless except for the general buffs. Hence, I'd recommend monstrous instead of undead.

Still, my own ranger build has undead as favored enemy for RP purposes.

There are? I've only had one "go kill undead" quest so far. So with different level ranges, do you mean 16+ or are there more low-leven undead somewhere that I've missed? Hint please!
