Mo matter which version you read, you are not going to find a signifigant difference. Definantly not one that would change the entire meaning of the New Testament, which is pretty much summed up in John 3:16.

Go here and look -> http://www.biblegateway.com

They have all the versions, literal and translated.

Commonly Blackguards tend to fill that role more often than not. I do find it amusing that two relatively equal yet opposite classes are not treated very equally. Paladins as a base class. Blackguards as a prestige class... Too bad they can't reconcile that. Either by making Blackguards a base class or Paladins into a prestige class.
The only constant is change.

Ironically, and to support your point...

The PnP version of the game recognizes the same issue and offered the prestige paladin class in the Unearthed Arcana hardcover.

I think having paladins as a prestige class makes PERFECT sense! After all, a true warrior for a goodly god would have a blend of priest and fighter skills. Wouldn't it be nice to have the following req for paladin:

Lawful Good
+6 BAB
Ability to cast level two divine spells
+5 Persuade
+5 Heal
Cleave

It sure would even the playing field for paladins and anti-paladins. In a certain sense, it would be interesting to have only five base classes (Fighter, Thief, Wizard, Sorcerer, Cleric) and prestige classes specific to each. Of course, that would put D&D more on par with Diablo, which would be a bit of a downer, but then again such a revamp would sure add more to the roleplaying as each character would have to really prove themselves in their class before being able to be so prestigous to take a specialized class.
