Ability Score

What is the limit for a given ability?

Let's say that someone creates an elf and sets dex at 20 on creation and pumps all increases to dex up to 30 at level 40. On top of that, 5 great dex feats are taken. Which brings it to 35. Is there a cap on BSK less than the 57 NWNwiki sites? Or, better yet, what is the limit on this char with items and/or spells?

As far as I can tell the server max is 50. The highest I've managed with feats and ability boosts every four levels is to 38 of any particular ability. Then there is the item cap of 12. ( your items can only have ability modifiers that add up to 12 so three +4 CHA items or similar) Spells would also apply to the item limit.

From all the servers I know 52 in most cases is the max I have heard of 54 but have not seen it yet.

52 is the max unless a given server has a hack allowing more. BSk has no such hack and players max out at 52.

Myle, I haven't tried leveling a strength-based RDD in Blackstone, but I can't see why it couldn't rise above 52. If it's a half-orc, it should be able to get as much as 45 naked (20 base, 10 boosts, 7 feats, 8 from RDD), which would give 57 fully equipped/buffed.

Of course, for all other abilities save strength, the maximum is indeed 52 -- or lower, depending on the availability of specialized races, RDD increases or Great X as bonus feats. See this forum thread for a computation of these maximums (be sure to catch the correction at the end of the thread for Con).

The technical hard cap on ability scores is 255 (at least according to NWNWiki), so it would take a lot of obscene game hacking for that to come into play.

57 is the max STR for a Half orc, STR based RDD. (20 + 10 + 7 +8 + 12)

I believe 50 is the max for any caster attrib (tested with Wizard.)

I think 52 is the max dex.

Pretty Fly, 50 is max for Wis but not for Int or Cha, if you're prepared to settle for 30 caster levels. Bard30/RDD10, Sorc30/RDD10, Wiz30/Bard1/RDD9 and Wiz30/Sorc1/RDD9 all are able to get 52 in their casting ability (given a non-stupid race choice, of course). See the forum thread I linked to above.

i never do cheesy gimmick builds, evarrrrr.

All of my chars have at least 5 levels in any class they pick. None of those "level 1 shadowmancer" crap.

I still say the most effective fighter based build is the Fighter/Bard/RDD. Hell, even a half-orc could muster this build. Fighter 29/Bard 1/RDD 10.
