Whispers of a new Order spread

Post by ValentianNizzle »

The Keep is at a boiling point. Rumors rotate from right to left, the women of the gossip in and out, they all speak of the new Order that has taken the Keep by storm, not literally, but certainly in another way.

In no more than a couple of months has what is known as The Order of the Morning Lord gained an impressive following. Not much is known other than that they seek to aid those whom seek it and bestow gifts upon those whom have nothing. Yet, rumors say that they also speak of this Morning Lord to be the new god of Justice, Loyalty and Honour?

Rumors will be rumors untill proved otherwise, they also say. More followers seem to show themselves as the days pass by, they each spread the word of their Morning Lord and they all dress the same, address their colleagues as Brother and Sister.

~In the Eastern desert, near the coast~

*The tent flap opens slightly and a voice bellows from outside* “Pack up your tent and gather your belongings, Brother Antony. You have a new missionâ€
The wise man speaks because he has something to say. The fool speaks because he has to say something.

Living the life of a duergar was never easy on the surface. Batlin has always been aware of this, but he had decided that such a life would be preferable to the one he had been living under the earth.

Others of his clan were proud of their stature and sure in their powers. Batlin could never admit to them that although he had never submitted himself to their gods nor Kazra, he still was able to call forth powers of the clerical domain.

What did this mean, he would constantly wonder, but he never doubted the magical power flowing within him.

As he made his way toward a stronghold known as Blackstone Keep, he was drawn toward tales about the Order of the Morning Lord. Their distincition of being separate from the overgod Eon, and not followers of wither Vor, Lia nor Kazra yet still able to draw forward divine powers intrigued him. Perhaps they had the same experience of godly magic without the weight of faith and ritual.

His first few days at the keep were easily lost in the routine of survival and conquest as he was able to gain a bit of experience in battling the monsters of the land, but yet he felt a sense of emptiness.

As he walked past the great oak, however, he noticed a man clad in clothing the color of the sunrise and he knew that he may have finally reached his destination.

With wisdom and power, this man, Jaheim humbled him with his ability to cast spells inside the walls of the keep. He taught him the value of humility and servitude. And finally Batlin had found his home as he donned the vestments of a priest of the Morning Lord.

Aco-Se had eventually found himself back in this Keep, after he had tried so hard to run from it, and the memories it had held for him. The Keep had been home to his first sense of security, happiness, and love, but it was also the place of much betrayal...

Eala... he thought. His heart sank at the thought of that beautiful girl, who had left him for another; a polygymist. That man...Allanon... He could not face him because of the shame he felt. What a betrayal! He had worked so hard here, to halt the assault of evil into the hearts of many, such as the two lovers, Tamana Redveil and Brandock Tane. But alas! He had caused their hearts to blacken. It was his fault, all his fault...

And now he was here again, a land which had seemed to take away what it had given to him. But he had no where else to go, no where to run.

Things had changed dramastically since he had first came. Vorites had become vicious beasts, whereas they had been a pious group in the past. Where was the Starkson, and the Kazrites? They were established, true; but not in the way they had been.

Days went by as he watched the people of the Keep go on their daily tasks. None spoke to him. Until one day, a man did speak to him. He condemned the Vorites for their aggression. He spoke of a new god, the Morning Lord, and most important to Aco, he promised Aco a voice.

Aco had been mute for as long as he could remember. A voice seemed so unreal. If this god could give Aco a voice, he would shout his name with praise! He would preach his word for all to hear!

This Father Jaheim was true to his word. Aco-Se gained his voice, and he was true to his word. Abandoning his old god, Lem, he donned the vestments of the Morning Lord. His new voice would take time to get used to, but it was the best thing that had been given to him in his life.
