Umgah Royal Guards

Post by Capt Cliff »

Kudo's for dreaming up such and incredibly hard opponent! Scared the scat out of me when I first ran into them. My monk with 73 ac got toasted! BUT ... they maybe misplaced in the main area. The Queen Ant/Formian has her own cave surrounded by her guard. Perhaps creating a temple area (two temples are in the Umgah City area), or like the Drow Boss sub-area, and add a super boss Umgah with these guards as escort. A super boss cleric would be fine.

Anyway they are badass ... and great work!

OMG, so to counter all those dwarven defenders down in umgahville, you made an umgah version, very interesting to say the least, haha.

Good move and even I must admit that they are quite something, especially when 4 pop in your face at once, good time

Put a couple in the temple at least. A boss Umgah Cleric in that other temple might be a good idea!!

I'd say that they're less 'dwarven defender' and more 'miniature Shalnaths with AB that cannot be dodged and several types of damage'. Not to mention that they can take 400 points of damage and don't even drop down to barely injured, which means they have at least 8000 HP as well.

I assume that there's some sort of nice loot attached to these new Raid Bosses that appear en masse ? Because otherwise there’s no incentive to go there, and all it looks like has been done is to make the area nigh inaccessible for driller's amusement. Which will just force high level loot hunters/30 something’s looking for decent XP, to just leave the place alone and go and camp some other area instead lol.

I’m not saying it is, I’m just explaining what will happen. You don’t have to be a ‘power gamer’ to use your head when it comes to gaming, and gamers are motivated to do something by reward. I think you’re also underestimating how much of Blackstone’s player population for this 16 year old game are power gamers by saying something like that, but that’s beside the point.

If people discover that there’s no reward for taking the time to defeat the new crazy enemies, word will get around that they aren’t worth the time, and they will be left to collect dust until the event subsides. People will then eventually stumble upon the next best equivalent to ‘Umgah’ , I.e an area with decent numbers of high level opponents for experience and loot, and we’ll effectively be back to square 1 again.

If the intention was to just make the place ridiculously difficult for its’ own sake because it got camped too much, okey dokey then. Might as well give the guards a giant movement speed boost and Invulnerability from the Toolset so that everyone can realise that quicker.

Which is the whole point of the RP reason the Emperor sent the Royal Guard to get rid of adventures. Mission accomplished.

In any event it is a temporary thing, which will set up more RP stuff in the future.
