Gabrial's luckstones keep disappearing , any idea why?

Just wondering if I want to hear that answer 
A few days ago I got my second luckstone, when I logged in the next day one was lost on login. I put that down to 'maybe dying removes a stone?' (I bluescreened
- but thats the luck of it...no problem)
Since then I found two more luckstones, which gave me three. However, after no deaths and at the next login, this is what I got in my combat screen...
Not only did I lose a luckstone - I lost a 'violet forgestone' ....is this part of the luckstones...bad luck?

I kinda posted this as a joke . That day I found five luckstones , several ambers , and a couple of scarlets all of which disappeared . The script just flaked out amd Driller cleaned it up .

Am not understanding this luckstone thing at all... just logged in after a few hours afk and my luck rating has dropped to 5 now...
should this be happening...? Are luckstones supposed to just disappear?

Luckstones are capped at 5.

5 stones giving 25%? is what the examine shows...
However I have never got to 5 stones as they keep disappearing when I login again...
I can have three stones lined up side by side, and when I log back in after a reset or spending time AFK...I have 1 left and my luck rating is set back at 5.
Does the "luck rating" sitting at 5 on login mean I have five stones?

In other words, you can only carry one stone, which is 5%. I did this because of all the duping that went on back in the day.
