Are you lagging since the latest update? LOOK HERE!

Post by DM_eaze »

Hello,
Since the latest update there seems to be a decent amount of players (including me) who has been having problem with the lag and the massive fps drop the update came with.

The solution for this is to update your graphic card drivers to different ones.
Note: This has only been tested on Nvidia(Geforce) graphic cards.

Follow these simple steps for a better Neverwinter Nights experience:

1) Download your type of drivers from Tweakforce (Do not install them yet)
2) Download & Install Driver Cleaner
3) Uninstall your current graphic card drivers.
4) Reboot
5) Run Driver Cleaner and pick "Nvidia OR ATI" from the list and click 'Start'
6) Install the new graphic card drivers from Step 1.

Good luck!

What drivers should I pick?
Xtreme-G Forceware nVidia Drivers -- These are for Nvidia(Geforce) cards.
Xtreme-G Catalyst ATI Drivers -- These are for (ATI) cards.

Cool! I'll have to check these out very soon. Thanks for the update, Eaze! I was wondering why that was happening, but now I know.

And knowing is half the battle! ....

Yes, you need the vista drivers - but the mobile ones. Not the other one.

At the bottom of the web page, Ease sent you to,
there is G Mobile ATI or G Mobile nVidia
Those are what you will want for your laptop I believe.
pick the one, for the video card type that you have :)

... found the problem...

As much as review-junkies would like to claim, even with the Intel T9300 Duo Processor and 2 GB of RAM the laptop will not run as smooth as proverbial butter with a 64bit OS named Vista.

If it helps, try downloading the proper drivers from Acer's official website: http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acerdrive ... ivers.html

It's a good laptop made by a good company. What sort of problem are you actually having? Does the screen lock up? Freeze? Does the program hang and act unresponsively? When does it do this?

Have you tried turning off shiny water and shadows? You mentioned that you tried to download the ATI version of the driver.... ATI cards are notoriously incompatible with NWN1... so... yeah, what's the actual problem?

Yes that's correct. What happend is that while in a fight the screen suddenly freeze and 15 or 20 seconds later it continue but most of the time you end up dead cause you didn't noticed you been hit to much.
Strangely it has nothing to do with the number of players online, it happend also when I'm the only one in game but it dosn't happend every time I'm playing. I will have to learn and live with this knowing a laptop isn't a game PC heh.

Only other thing I think of is to turn down your settings. Shadows, shiny water etc.

Sounds like a driver issue, update them. Eaither from the link I provided (if you find yours there) or from your official graphic card website.
I had this same problem.

If you are using a laptop, and windows vista 32bit (most likely):
Download the first driver in this link:

http://tweakforce.com/modules.php?name= ... oad&cid=16

And follow the steps in my first post in this thread. (If you're too lazy, just un-install your current drivers, reboot, and install these -- that's a "quick" way of doing it)
