I'm not sure if the quote about politicians applies here ("Anyone who wants to be a Politician should be automatically barred from taking the position") however, I would like to be considered as a potential candidate.

Well, I guess I'll throw my hat in on this...

As many of you know, this is the player of Andrun Hammertower, Eldrun Hammertower, Ordrun Hammertower, Dugan Wayfare and Bramd. I've been on Blackstone for over a year now and would like to think I know both the veterans and the new players alike.

I have been playing table-top D&D now for many years (19 as of this upcoming September), playing a myriad of characters of differing alignments, classes, etc (not just dwarves, contrary to the characters I play now). As such, I believe that I am quite familiar with many of the differing personalities that come from characters. Also, I've DMed on these table-top games for about 11 years, writing up story after story. However, I'll be honest, I have not DMed before on a Neverwinter Nights module... but I do not feel that this would hinder me in the least.

I've always prided myself on my capacity to role-play with others, no matter their style. On Blackstone, I'd like to think that my RP was always top notch, and I would endeavor to bring that same quality of RP to my DMing.

As for my personality, I tend to not be biased about who I interact with on the server, and do not judge others base off the general consensus of the person. I do have friends on this server, everyone does, but I will not play 'favorites.' Also, even when people are not RPing by the Tree in the Keep as per usual, I usually leave 'hooks' in emotes to have people just walking by the capability to RP if they want to.

As far as being a leader of the community (in this case, a DM of the server) I've had a lot of experience with managing others on an online game. I played EverQuest for 5 years, World of Warcraft for 3 years and Guild Wars for 2. In all the games I was a guild officer (usually ran raids/events) and on both EQ and GW I was a guild leader, the guy who manages pretty much everything. As such, I am able to multi task and manage individuals and events rather well.

More often than not, I will wait patiently for RP to come to Blackstone. I feel that as a DM, I can bring the RP to the players. Also, I staunchly believe that there is a lot of potential on this server for good RP. All it will take is a push here, a nudge there. I'm also a fan of events... getting a group of players together at a set date and time and running group-based events for rp. In the past, I have dabbled at writing stories for a while. It was nothing serious, of course, but it did allow me to look at RP not so much as being an interaction of player to player, but as a story being written by all those involved.

Also, a big benefit is that I am quite often playing between the hours of 7pm and midnight during the week, usually most of the time in the afternoon and evening. I keep up with the forums daily and do all in my power to keep on top of the events of the server.

I have a great many ideas on how I can bring beneficial, enjoyable RP to the server, on a personal, small group and server-wide scale. If it is necessary, I will detail as many as is wished of me.

I do hope my inexperience at being a NWN DM can be overlooked due to my experience in so many other aspects.

As a player I think that Both DragonDoom and Andrun would make good DM's. They both seem to be level headed, are very good RP'ers, and have helped solve IC and OOC problems / player disputes.

Also, knowing both of these guys OOC I do not believe that they would abuse DM status to give their characters Items,XP, etc etc.
In my opinion, blackstone desperately needs DM's who will host events, and I think these two will do just that.

I second that opinion... maybe with some great RP dm's we can get back to the days when you had to wait in line to log in to BSK because the server was always full.

I agree with the nominations, both players will bring a fresh air to the server just the thing we need.

I do not know much about the people that have spoken up about wanting to dm if they are as good at what they do as is claimed then they would make great dms.... I however would like to be considered to be a dm and here are the reasons why.... I have been playing dungeons and dragons since 1997 i have also played at a L.A.R.P game and have run many events at such L.A.R.P. I feel that with the proper style of dm's on this server that it can once again become the great server i keep hearing so much about but have yet been able to see for myself since it has been rather dead as of late for whatever reasons..... I also know my way around the NwN toolset and if any help is ever needed with anything like that I would be glad to assist in any way I can.... for a more indepth converation with me please feel free to PM me on here or send me a message on msn soulofdispair@hotmail.com and i would gladly speak to you more about my skills when it comes to DMing....

Sorry but I can't agree you saying the server is rather dead, there are allways players online.
My 2 cents....

With not having as sound a background and reputation on the server as our humble Andrun or DragonDoom I think the best I can do is share with you some of my game related thoughts over the last few years and try to give you some sense of me.

I've spent a number of years playing various first person fantasy computer games as well as the various Warhammer roleplay games and when 3.5E D&D was relesed I quickly became interested. In a short time I became a pen and paper DM who has struggled with player numbers over the years but has tried to make up for that with detailed and involving stories/plot lines, illustrations, and detailed maps for the players I do have. I can't help it really, building and designing is something I have to do, whether its something like sim city and designing skyscrapers that float or plotting layouts in extreme detail.

My most consistant player and friend was due to leave the country at the beginning of this year and we wished to continue our D&D adventures, Neverwinter nights seemed like an appropriate means of continuing that without losing the level of detail I love even if I was put in the role of player, which addmitedly has been a nice change.

This is my first MMORPG and i've been wandering these lands since about February as several characters, i'm usually on for around twenty plus hours a week but am most commonly seen around between 11pm to 1am GMT each day. Morg and Gabrielle Lancett-Mirnimane being my most visible characters, Skoredaladinae has now making an appearance. I have enjoyed many sights and epic battles and I feel that I can add some degree of my own enthusiasm for D&D to the game to the benefit of all.
As a player here I have spent some time thinking about a concept for a guild based on one of my pen and paper ideas that never quite made it into play, however the opportunity to implement what would have been its main feature under a DM guise would make it much more sound and allow everyone to participate properly as was origionally intended.
I have spoken to a couple of players here and have seen some interest to this idea, but this is my first time presenting it for the general masses.

My idea has been a race track. Not a straight "first one over X distance" but one where a pair of riders, mounted on trained Ankegs, Dire badgers and the like, that work together against other teams in a full "smash 'em into the dirt" race.
One rider in the team would tend to operate as the runner the second more as a blocker, specialist gear would be available to protect the riders and their mounts, the winning team would recieve a piece of elite riding gear and cash award etc.
I developed this idea over several months adding some of the areas the track would pass through as my existing campaign world developed and expanded, and the music score that would run during the race (even if only in my head), a track called "points of authority" by Linkin Park.
The race would be run as a short course the majority of the time, this being generally known as the "Running the Rammage" and a sort of bi-annual race of greater length and danger that the more elite riders would run called the "Grand Rammage" which primerially occupied a small local section of the Underdark.
Various large creatures would wander across the track on occasion as obstacles and there would be various small ruins that would provide small bonuses to the first rider to reach them. There would also be a venue where spectators could view and place bets on the race.

Now I know that the current environment doesn't necessarily support the complexity or dramatic environment that I concieved originally but I believe it is something that could prove quite popular here as well as promote plenty of RP if developed properly.

An epic plotline concerning a great Abyssal Demon and his offspring was one of my last before coming here, where through an accident of circumstance the players disrupted a celestial demonic summoning ritual which led to them being hunted by an array of demonic assasins. This, over time, lead to an epic struggle to put an end to the great demon once and for all. plenty of plot twists were involed for those who are more than "hack and slash".

I also developed something similar to the ring gates we use here that required an power stone to be inserted to become active, they would only link two places though but over vast distances. These were developed in somewhat a golden age which met a sudden end several centuries before my setting. The end being that the gate expansion had lead into an area that held a terrible foe, one that could leave the world in tatters if not immediatly contained, so the power to all the gates was pulled and redirected to form a vast prison for them. However no prison will last forever.

A few of my other ideas have been; Dwarves building a linking tunnel between two fortresses accidentally tunnel into a realm controlled by Aboleths. A forest of Giant redwoods appearing overnight where a highly populated city stood the night before. An entire fishing region suddenly unable to find anything to catch and a mysterious black ship sighted in the night. A town on a well traved road now only occupied by statues and affected by and area where any magic will no longer function.

My level of interacton with my players has often been very deep, quite often introducing new published races and cultures into my existing world to better suit the character they are interested in playing and their character history. I allways try to get them to play to thier characters strengths and support each others weaknesses, though sometimes I do let them to make the error if it might lead to good RP.
One of my favorate player errors was in an RP rest/level up mid game with a player known to use rash actions without thinking ahead sufficently. A potion of "fly" was identified in his loot and he imediatly said "I drink it", so rather than a cautious sip he downed it in one, which led to him zooming around like a bird for five minutes then barreling into the ground at 30 mph as the potion suddenly wore off. He broke a leg and an arm and was laid up for a week getting no sympathy from the other players, after that he was a little more carefull with quick comments.
I often give fair XP for good RP and small awards for utilising charcter catchphrases and quirks at appropiate times, and allow as much freedom as possible to the player without distorting the world around them too much. In my games a corpse has been fully lootable but is only carrying equipment appropiate to the character, so a player hunting some wild creature most likley will recieve nothing on the creatures death and only be rewarded on the return of the pelt etc, or where that doesnt apply the equivalent loot values in a chest treasure at an appropiate stage.

Thats about it for my rant I think.
Thanks of the concideration.
Ps I also think Andrun and DragonDoom should be given positions as they both appear quite dedicated and have provided help to me in my time here.

Erm....

Without doing a significant amount of active moding to the server, most of that is impoosible. Even with significant amounts of moding.... most of that is impractical.

I'd like to apply for the position. My track record speaks for itself.

Nizzle,
back with a new computer and new tricks.
I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
It may be he shall take my hand
Lead me into his dark land
Close my eyes and quench my breath
I have a rendezvous with Death
I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous
