I have noticed that on a few occasions too.

It cannot be done anymore. One of BSK update "fixed" Shalnath. I'm honest, i really did solo him at least twice that i can clearly remember and i did it a few time with just a healer(Jake_Master5000) to back me up, but my mage was the only one actually doing something to Shalnath, i swear!...

Be a real gamer and buy the pc version
Pc version got all those nice mods and you can manually change your field of view to 120 or close to that mark + the graphics are WAY better on a pc, old consoles technology cannot even come close.
